The Newcross group both directly and in alliance with its JV and other Industry Partnerships joined the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic through multiple support programs ranging from awareness campaigns, donation of equipment and personal protective items to augment governments efforts towards mitigating the impact of the pandemic (as always done in previous instances of natural disasters) within our administrative headquarters, operating communities, and the country at large.
In April 2020, the Oil and Gas Industry initiative on COVID-19 donated ambulances, sanitizers, face masks, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to the governments of the six (6) south western states to aid efforts in containing the spread of the disease. This was accomplished by a joint partnership of the NNPC and the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), for which Newcross is a member.
In addition to the creation of a COVID-19 awareness campaign video which gave directions in four different languages (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and Pidgin English) on the guidelines to preventing the spread of the virus, Newcross also made donations of equipment and personal protective items to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Newcross also took initiatives at mitigating the impact of the stay-at-home policy implemented by government by making donations of food items and other palliatives such as, disinfectants, hand sanitizers, etc. to her host communities. This was well received by the community representatives who were appreciative of the continued supports and cordial relationship between themselves and the company.
CSR and social investment being the fabric of our evolving group, Newcross is more determined to continue with the necessary supports to navigate the impacts of COVID-19, through providing our stakeholders with the resources, information and insights that will help communities and economies recover and thrive.
