Our Operations

2005
Acquired 40% participating interest from PPL in the Egbaoma (formerly referred to as Umutu field in OML 38).
2007
• Achieved first oil at the Egbaoma field and began production at a daily output of 3,000 barrels.
• Commissioned a 10,000bpd capacity flow station.
• Developed a 48-kilometre evacuation pipeline from Umutu to Kwale, Delta state.
2010
Entered a PSC with the NNPC through the acquisition of 90% participating interest in OPL 283 from Centrica Resources Nigeria Limited (60%) and CCC Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited (30%). The remaining 10% is owned by Rayflosh Petroleum Limited, the local content vehicle (LCV) partner from the previous ownership.
2012
Secured the consent on its acquisition of 90% participating interest in OPL 276 (another Production Sharing Contract) from Centrica Resources Nigeria Limited (60%) and CCC Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited (30%), while Albright Wave retains its 10% as the local content vehicle (LCV).
2013
Made first hydrocarbon discovery in Efe field, a find of 20 hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs with a total thickness of 648ftMD.
2017
Secured conversion of its Oil Prospecting License (OPL283) to an Oil Mining Lease (OML152) and the field development plan (FDP) approval for OML152 Efe field.
2019
Secured NAPIMS approval to progress on the Efe evacuation strategy.

OML 152

OML 152 is operated under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Located in the North central part of the Niger Delta basin, it has a total acreage of 1272 sq. km (with 285 sq.km of it, farmed out to marginal field operators). The asset is bound by OML 147 (North), OML 38 (West), OML 30 (South), OML 143 & 60 (East) and straddles both Delta and Edo states.

Following the discovery of Twenty (20) hydrocarbon bearing sands with a total thickness of 648ft on the Efe field, Newcross fulfilled all regulatory commitments for the conversion of the asset from an OPL phase to an OML phase. Eight (8) prospects have been identified within the block.

The asset is currently at near term production phase with first Oil production targeted for 2020.

OPL 276

In 2010, Newcross entered and executed a Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Centrica and CCC to acquire 60% and 30% respective participating interest in the concession, while Albright Wave retains its 10% interest as the Local Content Vehicle (LCV).

Newcross’ OPL 276 block is in the southern-eastern part of the Delta province in Akwa-Ibom state. The asset, with a license area of 524sqkm (excluding the marginal field license area), sits in a transition zone with a terrain ranging from dry land in the north to mangrove swamps, beaches and shallow marine areas in the south with a draft of about 7m. It is bound by OML 13 (West), OML 114 & OPL 452 (East & North respectively) and OML 123 (South).

Egbaoma Marginal Field (OML 38)

With 40% participating interest in the Egbaoma field, activities under the Operatorship of Platform Petroleum commenced in 2007 following a farm out by SPDC.

The Egbaoma field has consistently remained in operation since commencement in 2007. It has recorded over one million man-hours with no Lost Time Injuries (LTI).
