The Awoba NW-2 oil well is the first oil well drilled by NewcrossEP post acquisition of the OML 24 asset from Shell. The well was drilled with the Shengli 4 rig which was released on the 27th of October, 2018.

The Awoba NW field is an oil and gas field located in the Niger Delta region, Rivers State Nigeria. Awoba NW 2 appraisal well was drilled in this location in the third quarter of the year 2018. The well was spudded on the 11th of June 2018 and the trajectory of the well led to the discovery of four (4) new hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs in addition to the four (4) already seen in Awoba NW-1 well. Several achievements were recorded as a result of the drilling operation which includes;

  • An increased level of hydrocarbon pay than seen in Awoba NW-1 well.
  • Successful perforation and completion of the well for detailed production testing.
  • Perforated 6 sand lobes in one run.
  • Good isolation between perforated hydrocarbon bearing sands.

The oil production from Awoba NW-2 boosts NewcrossEP oil production by 30%.
